EKASIL Rice Husk Carbon is a by-product obtained from rice husk silica production process at a ratio of 0.2 kilogram pure carbon per 1 kilogram finished product of rice husk silica, 99.99% purity. In the research conducted for a pharmaceutical company, the obtained carbon was tested and compared with the medical-grade activated carbon Renamezin® and Kremezin®. The result showed that the obtained carbon was of high purity and had a larger specific surface area (BET) than the compared products at 1,300 m²/g which indicates a potentially higher sorption capacity of indoxyl sulfate and p-Cresol.
